album to be released. We are expecting the album to do well,” he said.
Tryson said he chose the title “Compass” as a way of giving the direction the dendera genre should take.
Tryson said the album was a departure from his previous recordings, but maintains his late father Naison “Dr Nero” Chimbetu’s flair.
“Compass is a mature product. I decided to revisit old Marxist Brothers sound which fans enjoyed in the past,” said Tryson.
Songs to watch out for include “Ndondo”, “Pahotera” which features Oliver Mtukudzi as well as “Bhora Mberi”, a duet with Peter Moyo of Utakataka Express.
“My album was supposed to be released a long time ago, but I had to change the recording company from Diamond Studios to Tuku Music, where I recorded most of my stuff on the album. I felt there was need for a change,” he said.
He thanked Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso for their unwavering support.
“Mudhara Tuku and Macheso were the first people to support me since I started out as a musician, they were and they are still very supportive.
“Without them I would not have been where I am today, so I want to thank them for their understanding,” said Tryson.
He joins the other youthful artistes who have worked with Tuku among them his cousin Suluman Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave and ExQ.
Tryson made his presence felt back in 2008 when he released his debut album “Marxist Revival” which was well received by his fans.
