Tryson and Peter had one such show at the popular Jongwe Corner in Hatfield where they wowed an appreciative crowd from afternoon deep into the night.
The Family Show, organised by upcoming music promoter Chawu Nedi, started with Tryson belting out tune after tune from the dendera genre. The son of the legendary music composer and bassist Naison Chimbetu continues to improve with each outing as he is ably assisted by the Marxist Brothers.
Tryson picked some of the best compositions from his late father Naison and uncle Simon Chimbetu. He also played his own songs sending the crowd into a frenzy.
While Tryson held fort warming up the crowd the highlight was when his best friend Peter joined him on stage for the popular “Bhora Mberi” that is becoming an anthem at the shows.
One thing is certain, Peter is keeping his father’s brand going strong. The vocals continue to improve and the act on stage, which is a favourite with the ladies, is still way up there. The well-choreographed dances continue to impress while the sungura beat is still consistent.
The show was spiced up up by cameo appearances by bassist Spencer Kumulani, chanter Shiga Shiga and Orchestra Mberikwazvo drummer Obert Gomba.
In an interview, Peter said he will continue holding joint shows with Tryson.
“We have noticed that the shows are popular and since we recorded the song ‘Bhora Mberi’ more people are attending our shows. We have age to our advantage and the energy is still oozing and we will continue giving the best for fans,” he said.
The Young Igwe also took time to talk about his latest album.
“I am currently in the studio recording a six-track album and hope it would be appreciated by our fans. I am not recording with
Tryson but I have a song I did with Romeo Gasa.
“We are, however, looking forward to more joint shows with Tryson and inenge ingori bhora mberi.”
