FROM one big game to another, Premiership newboys Tsholotsho Pirates will be looking to build on the positives from their last assignment when they host giants CAPS United at White City this Sunday.
Iziqholo Ze Zhwane are in high spirits after putting up a brave fight in a goalless draw against the defending champions at Rufaro on Monday.
The team’s goalkeeper, Mariyoni Chang, said the Premiership newboys were looking to resuscitate their campaign which had taken a dent in recent weeks.
Tsholotsho have not won a match in their last five games.
Despite making a promising start, they had slipped on the log standings to join fellow newcomers Flame Lily, Dongo Sawmill and Whawha in the bottom four.
Chang believes that draws in their last two outings were crucial as they have helped bring back some confidence.
He said they were looking to press forward in search of better results.
“We haven’t been getting consistent results in recent weeks but this draw against Dynamos means a lot. It’s hard playing a big team, especially away, but we managed to contain them.
“So we are looking forward to the next match. Many people think that we are going to be relegated because we have dropped on the log standings but I don’t think that will happen.
Log leaders Chicken Inn will be back at home on Saturday as they welcome Buffaloes seeking to bounce back from a defeat in their last game.
The Gamecocks were stopped in their tracks by Hwange when losing 0-1 after having gone for nine matches unbeaten.
However, they managed to keep their position at the top of the table with a two-point cushion. Joey Antipas’ men have 23 points to their credit.
But it is high-flying Chapungu who will be under the spotlight when they open the weekend programme with Harare City at Rufaro.
John Nyikadzino’s men are unbeaten in their previous eight outings after recovering from a disappointing start to the season.
