GOSPEL singer Ray Bopoto has launched his eighth studio album titled “Svoto”, which he believes will cause waves on the market.
Songs from the latest offering are receiving favourable airplay within and beyond borders. The musician has proved to be consistent as he released another pulsating album, “Ngairire”, in July last year.
The title track went on to dominate music charts on radio.
Before that, Bopoto’s hit track “Tsotso”, off the album “Gore Rino”, became one of the most requested songs at public gatherings.
The song secured the number two spot on Radio Zimbabwe’s end-of-year Top 50 competition, narrowly losing out to DT Bio Mudimba’s “Kujata Jata”.
The South Africa-based singer has vowed never to look back.
“I wish my work could grow with each passing production. I thank God for the support that I am getting from fans. The journey has been amazing and fruitful,” Bopoto told The Sunday Mail Society.
The title track “Svoto”, “Chii?”, “Nyarara” and “Ndaireva Rudo” complete the latest offering.
The album was recorded in South Africa and officially launched on June 2 on Radio Zimbabwe.
“The reception is overwhelming; the feedback is pleasing. One of the noticeable impacts is being voted into the charts on local national radio stations, including Chimoio FM in Mozambique. All this happened just a week after we released the work,” he said.
Two of the songs’ videos were released on the same day as the album.
“We always make it a policy to record videos for our new songs so that we have a complete package for our fans. The videos are already on YouTube and other social media platforms,” added Bopoto.
“We have embarked on a challenge that is aimed at thanking our fans by giving away a US$300 prize to a winner who would participate and come out tops in a contest that will run until July 9.
“The ‘Svoto Challenge’ is open to everyone who follows us on our social media platforms. The rules and regulations are available on our Facebook and YouTube channel.”
The singer’s music appeals across the generational divide as his message is carefully crafted.
“Our music focuses on issues that affect every person, never mind age, gender, race or class,” he said.
Bopoto’s other albums include “Never Despair”, “Masvingo eJericho”, “Batai Dzimba” and “Wandinonamata”.
