Last year, Tswatswa had a memorable celebration for his 54th birthday when his daughters brought him a cake as he camped with the Warriors for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Mali.
Zimbabwe won the game 2-1 at Rufaro and Tswatswa was yesterday confident of yet another perfect present.
“I am turning 55 on the day of the game and I hope for a repeat of what happened to me when we played against Mali last year.
“We won the game. My beautiful daughters Jacqueline and Joyline usually spring surprises on me.
“I hope that the team gets a comfortable win over Guinea on Sunday and in the games thereafter,” said Tswatswa, who is also an assistant coach at CAPS United.
A seasoned sports administrator, Tswatswa emphasised that the Warriors need to remain focused on their goals to qualify for the Nations Cup finals in South Africa next year and the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.
“There is a saying that goes: No wind blows forth for he who has no port to sail to.
“Our port is South Africa for 2013 and Brazil for 2014 and we hope our wish will be granted as we say Go Warriors Go.
“I also appeal to the fans to come and rally behind the Warriors,” he said.
Tswatswa has also worked at Motor Action as goalkeepers’ coach and is largely credited with shaping Marlon Jani into the fine goalkeeper he is.
“I began my football career in the early 1970s with Slagaza in Kambuzuma then moved to ProNutro.”
Tswatswa later joined Chibuku Shumba where he played as an understudy to Booker Muchenu while Daniel Chikanda was coach.
Later, Tswatswa coached Bush Bucks, a team that was owned by the late former cabinet minister Herbert Ushewokunze.
“After coaching the team I then began concentrating on junior development in the city council,” said Tswatswa.
He has been with Harare City Council for the past 37 years and has overseen various sports programmes including the Crystal Candy and the Mavrikos Tournament.
His passion for sport has also seen him working as the general manager for the Harare Provincial Games teams.
“I have developed over the years from my first early into coaching by attending Caf administration courses.
“Now I am certified tutor and Fifa goalkeeping instructor and have been conducting courses,” said Tswatswa.
