to September 2.
NDAZ chairman, Meynard Moyo, said they will be sending four teams — the Under-25 with two boys and two girls, above 50 with two men and two women, the ladies team featuring five ladies and the men’s team featuring seven athletes.
“We expect competition to be very high given the limited number of places in the teams,” said Moyo.
“I tip players like David and Peter Mulukula to defend their places in the mens’ team with Tabeth Zhoya and Melody Gezana retaining theirs in the ladies. Moses Ndlovu and Kudzanyi Nyemba are also poised to retain their positions in the above 50 and under 25 respectively.”
He added that players like Justin Thomas from Masvingo and the ever-improving Patrick Zimidzi can squeeze into the men’s team with Joyce Mloyi from Midlands and Hloniphani Ndlovu from Matabeleland South likely to make it into the ladies team.
Those who would have made the national team are likely to be known by tomorrow.
Eight countries have confirmed their partication in the Zone VI tournament — Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and host South Africa.
