TUKU MUSIK CALLS FOR SUPPORT TO KEEP ICON’S LEGACY ALIVE

Mathew Masinge

TUKU Musik has made a passionate appeal to fans and Good Samaritans to partner them and help keep the legend’s legacy alive.

The family, led by his widow Daisy, made the call at the inaugural Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts held at the weekend.

They unveiled plans to set up the Oliver Mtukudzi Memorial Foundation.

The family will transform the late Tuku’s village in Madziva, where they intend to erect a bronze statue at his grave.

“The plans are already underway and we want to honour the great musician, superstar and national hero in a special way.

“We are also calling for cash donations from his fans so that we set up the Oliver Mtukudzi Memorial Foundation,” said Tuku Musik in a statement.

“We intend to launch the foundation before Tuku’s death anniversary in January 2025, hence the call to all his fans across the globe to assist in any way they can.

“More details will be shared soon when we announce a team of experts that includes lawyers, business leaders, and captains of industry who will oversee the foundation.”

Tuku Musik also announced that a renowned company is behind the bronze statue, which they are also to unveil on the sixth anniversary of his death on January 23.
