IT was a Sister Act par excellence.

When Selmor Mtukudzi and her UK-based sister Sandra finally shared the stage at the Mhofu Dzichifara Mudanga Concert at 7 Arts Theatre over the weekend, they reminded fans why music runs deep in the Mtukudzi bloodline.

The siblings lit up the packed venue with a breathtaking performance filled with powerful vocals, flawless guitar work and infectious energy that had fans on their feet from the first song to the last.

Separated by thousands of kilometres for much of the year, the sisters looked like they had never spent a day apart, feeding off each other’s energy as they belted out timeless songs made famous by their late father, music legend Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, while also celebrating the musical legacy of the Manatsa family.

The emotional reunion became one of the biggest talking points of the night as fans cheered every song and sang along word for word.

Adding to the magic was the appearance of the family’s next generation.

Selmor’s son, Ben Manatsa, stole hearts with his impressive guitar skills as he played alongside his father, Tenda Manatsa.

Green Manatsa’s son, Aaron, also dazzled behind the drum kit, proving that musical talent continues to flow through the famous family.

The performance turned into a true family affair, with three generations sharing one stage in a rare and memorable celebration of Zimbabwean music.

Sandra looked relaxed and confident throughout her set, showing she had lost none of the charisma that has made her a fan favourite.

The sisters’ natural chemistry and playful interaction left many fans calling for more joint performances.

The family showcase was only one of several highlights at the concert.

Afro-jazz heavyweight, Victor Kunonga, rolled back the years with a polished performance that reminded many why he remains one of Zimbabwe’s finest live acts.

His soulful voice and trademark guitar work drew thunderous applause from the audience.

Alexio Kawara also delivered a crowd-pleasing set, effortlessly blending Afro-jazz with his signature mbira sound, while UK-based urban contemporary music pioneer Ngoni Kambarami made a surprise appearance that sent excitement levels soaring.

Award-winning musician Rockford “Roki” Josphats also thrilled fans before announcing that he will officially launch his new album, Chronicles, this Friday in Harare.

But despite the stellar line-up, it was the reunion of the Mtukudzi sisters that stole the spotlight.

Their performance was more than just another concert appearance.

It was an emotional celebration of family, legacy and the enduring spirit of the Mtukudzi name, leaving fans hoping it won’t be long before Selmor and Sandra share the stage again.
