SUPERSTAR Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi and cultural group Siyaya Arts will take part in the World of Music Arts and Dance (Womad) festival in the United Kingdom from July 24 to 28.
The festival, which will be held at the Charlton Park in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, will also see Bulawayo playwright Bruce Ncube being part of the festivities.
This will not be Tuku and Siyaya’s first time to perform at the Womad festival.
Tuku last performed there a decade ago with Siyaya gracing the event for the fourth time after performing in 2004, 2008 and 2010.
Siyaya director Saimon Mambazo Phiri said being part of the festival would be a great experience as they would share the stage with other African and international icons.
“I’m glad that Siyaya has been invited again to be part of an international festival of this magnitude. This festival has allowed us the opportunity to interact with some African and international icons.
“We are proud to have this opportunity to represent the country and the city of Bulawayo alongside musical icon Oliver Mtukudzi,” he said.
The Bulawayo arts outfit was in Northern Ireland’s capital, Belfast, two months ago teaching music.
