Superstar Oliver Mtukudzi is expected to stage his first show at the newly opened Columbus Pub & Grill situated in Borrowdale along Carrick Creagh Road on Sunday.
Mtukudzi together with Enoch Piroro on bass and Sam Mataure on drums will perform at a family show that also features The Movement.
The granddad of music is still agile, loveable and most importantly his longevity in the music industry largely depends on the support from his fans.
Columbus Pub & Grill is the latest acquisition by Eventworx, the entertainment group that runs Club H2O and Mekka Lounge in Borrowdale.
Lyndon Kapuya, the public relations executive of the group, said they just completed extensive renovations on both the inside structure and the garden in which it is situated.
“This has brought the establishment up to world class standards, with the addition of an outside bar, an outdoor stage for live performances.
“The establishment has state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment and will bring a breath of fresh air to this part of Borrowdale that was being deprived of entertainment,” Kapuya said.
He said the pub would also be of great service to the neighbourhood during the week as an entertainment hangout.
“There is full DStv coverage of all the live sport going on and with up to six televisions both inside and outside.
“For the big games we also have a projector which will beam these on to our outdoor stage and give the ambience of being in the stadium, so sports fans and music lovers alike will be well catered for,” Kapuya said.
He said they were honoured to have Mtukudzi to officially open the bar and set the pace for what is to come.
“We felt that it needed such a high profile and quality artiste as Tuku to launch the establishment and would encourage music fans to come out in their numbers for a great afternoon of music, food, drinks and great social outing.
“Gates will open at 12 noon and a vibrant musical group called The Movement will open the show before the main act gets underway,” he said.
