Tupac movie on cards

N.W.A will be releasing their biopic “Straight Outta Compton” in August, but hip hop fans could also see a Tupac Shakur biopic this year.

According to Collider, Randall Emmett is the producer behind the film and he says he has already secured the rights to 2Pac’s music.

“The script is great and we’re ready to make the movie; we’re just prepping the logistics,” Emmett said.

“I think our story, especially like a lot of biopics in the hip-hop space, will at least tease the beginning of his life, kind of tease his beginnings and kind of the people around him, then go into the key years leading up to the pinnacle of his success — those three or four key years of his rise, and the empire he built.”

The film will chronicles the life of the late rap legend from his rise to fame to his untimely death on September 13, 1996.

Randall Emmett is not new to producers hip hop themed films. In 2009 he co-founded Cheetah Vision with rapper 50 Cent.

He also produced the popular series Power and movies such as Lone Survivors and End of Watch. — Urbanislandz.
