TV LEGEND JOHN ‘MZALA’ PHIRI GETS HONOURED

TELEVISION legend, John “Mzala” Phiri, who has been under the weather, had a reason to smile on Friday as he was honoured by a number of companies.

His renovated house was officially handed to him at the same function which drew scores of Glen View residents.

Mzala’s house was extended, renovated, furnished and painted by the Good Samaritans.

He made his name on the popular ZTV programme, Ezomgido , where he formed an excellent tag-team with Barney Mupariwa.

His plight was revealed by StarFm presenter Tilder Moyo.

A number of companies, artists, television and radio presenters turned Glen View into a theatre of joy as they honoured the legend.

Baba naAmai Charamba, Aaron Chiundura Moyo and Albert Nyathi graced the event.

Mupariwa was the director of ceremony.

“We are gathered here to celebrate the work done by our former television personality John Mzala Phiri,” said Mupariwa.

“His life had become a miserable and we thank Tete Tilder Moyo for informing the nation about his challenges.

“Air Zimbabwe gave Mzala an air ticket to Victoria Falls where he was for five days while his house was under renovation.

“He returned and got surprised by the developments and this is what we are celebrating while he is still alive.

“Thank you Tete Tilder and everyone who contributed to put a smile on Mzala’s face and adding value to his life,” said Mupariwa.

Pastor Charamba led guests with prayers and a number of people praised Tilder Moyo for publicising Mzala’s plight.
