Region Division One match at Motor Action Sports Club yesterday.
The match was initially pencilled in for Hellenics, but had to be moved next door to the home of Premiership side Motor Action at the last minute after authorities at
Hellenics stopped the home team Twalumba from using the ground for unexplained reasons.
Hard running forward, Munyaradzi Muchenje scored the priceless goal for Twalumba in the 51st minute after finding space in the box before shooting a powerful effort that gave DC Academy goalkeeper Herbert Rusano no chance.
Twalumba finished the match with 10 men after goal scorer Muchenje received his marching orders in the 85th minute for a second bookable offence.
The red card had little effect on Twalumba as DC Academy failed to find the back of the net.
Twalumba technical team manager, Wilson Mutekede was happy with the three points, but was quick to remind his players to up their game in their next assignments.
“We are coming from a break and it was not a convincing display from the team, but the good thing is they managed to get the three points.
“We did create a number of scoring opportunities, but we failed to score which is a cause of concern and should be rectified as soon as possible.
“We have to work hard and improve on our shortcomings especially in our next game against Eiffel Flats, we really need to improve because it will be a tough game,” said Mutekede.
DC Academy coach Newton Chitehwe blamed his side’s defeat on lack of fighting spirit.
“The boys lacked the fighting spirit as compared to our previous games that we have played.
“Our defence was not very good and it cost us today, but we need to get back to the drawing board and rectify our mistakes,” said Chitehwe.
After the win Twalumba remained fourth with 21 points from 11 games.
Leaders Dstv dismissed Blue Jets 2-1 and are now on 26 points, five points clear of Power Master who eased into second after thumping Banket United 3-1 at Gwanzura.
Black Rhinos will be hoping to close in on DStv and Power Master when they face Aces Youth Soccer Academy at Gwanzura this afternoon.
Mwana Africa registered a rare win at home when they beat Skylink 2-1.
