Twalumba, DC Academy clash

lost 1-0 against Guinea in a World Cup qualifier.
The Northern Region has remained the most competitive of all the four Division One leagues in the country.

Tonderai Marume’s Power Master were the early pacesetters before surrendering the lead to ZPC Kariba after a string of poor results.
The Kariba men were then dislodged from the top by perennial campaigners Black Rhinos but resurgent DStv used their fine form to push the soldiers into second place as they went three points clear at the top.

Twalumba have blown hot and cold this season but they still find themselves in a respectable position-trailing log leaders DStv by five points. Twalumba technical team manager, Wilson Mutekede, said they were ready for the contest.
“We are expecting a good competitive match but we are happy with our preparations for the game. We are coming from a break and we expect to play well, we are injury free and we will be only missing the services of Boban Ziruntusa who is in his native country Uganda on national duty.

“We are not under any pressure, the league is a marathon so we just need to keep playing well and win our matches because it’s points that matters at the end of the day,” said Mutekede.
DC Academy coach Newton Chitehwe was in a relaxed mood going into the derby.

“We are using same approach just as in the previous games, we don’t want to put pressure on our youngsters,” said Chitehwe.
In other matches lined up this afternoon, Power Master face tricky Banket United and log leaders DStv have a date against Blue Jets at Old Hararians.
Tomorrow, Black Rhinos will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they meet Aces Youth Soccer Academy after that painful 1-0 defeat in the hands of DStv at One Commando.
