A 26-year-old Bulawayo man who stabbed his twin brother with a kitchen knife twice on the head over a misunderstanding involving leftover isitshwala/sadza has been sentenced to perform 280 hours of community service.
Maqhawe Ncube from Iminyela suburb pleaded guilty to the charges of physical abuse.
He was sentenced to seven months in prison. Three months were suspended for five years on condition that he does not commit the same offence. The remaining four months were suspended on condition that he performs 280 hours of community service at Western Commonage Court.
Western Commonage magistrate Mr Archie Wochiwunga said the sentence should be completed within four months.
Prosecuting, Ms Audrey Kufandikanwe told the court that the incident occurred on July 23.
On that date, Maqhawe and his twin brother Mabutho Ncube, were at their place of residence around 7 PM when the two had an argument over leftover sadza and chicken.
The accused, due to anger aroused by the argument, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his twin brother twice on the head.
The complainant sustained a deep cut on the head and was rushed to hospital to seek medical attention.
