adminJOHANNESBURG. — Popular micro-blogging platform Twitter will now let users post moving pictures of up to 15MB in size to their profiles. The size was previously 5MB. A GIF, short for graphic interchange format, is often used on social media to express users’ emotions. Twitter has made no formal announcement about it but its FAQs have been updated: “Photos can be up to 5MB; animated GIFs can be up to 5MB on mobile, and up to 15MB on Web.”In February, Twitter introduced a search function for GIFs, which was directly integrated into the platform.
The traditionally 140-character-only service is allowing for more and more pictures to adorn its users’ timelines.
Last month, it introduced searchable stickers that are rotated timeously to coincide with current events and show support for different causes.
A recent update also included emoji-targeted advertising that allows emoji to act as keywords and for brands to target people who tweet a specific emoji.
The social network has also increased the scope of its 140-character limit by excluding usernames and links from the count. — ITWEB.
