Two 16-year-olds assist police with investigations into the alleged rape of a Form Four pupil in Bocha

TWO suspects, both aged 16, are assisting police with investigations following a video that went viral on social media showing them allegedly raping a Form Four pupil recently in Manicaland.

The victim, aged 17, has also been located by the police in Marange, Bocha, as investigations into the case continue.

In the video, the two suspects could be seen taking turns to sexually abuse the victim while recording the incident using a mobile phone.

This prompted the ZRP to dispatch a team to conduct comprehensive investigations in connection with the incident.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “Reference is made to the ZRP’s X post on September 28, 2025, in connection with the viral social media post on sexual activities by Masasi High School students. The ZRP has located

the complainant, aged 17 and the two suspects, aged 16. More details will be released as inquiries continue.”

Last week, police arrested the suspect accused of raping a 13-year-old Grade 7 student in a parked commuter omnibus at Julia Zvobgo Street (formerly Rezende Street) bus rank in July has been arrested and brought to court.

Givemore Mutape (25) appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa, last week, facing rape charges.

He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court and is set to return to court on October 13.

According to Prosecutor Mr Lancelot Mutsokoti, the incident occurred on July 19 at around 1 pm.

Mutape allegedly raped the girl after pretending to help her while being harassed by touts at the rank. He offered her shelter in a parked commuter omnibus where he later followed and raped her.
