Two arrested for drugging, raping teenager

TWO men have been arrested for allegedly raping a teenager after drugging her in Mabvuku on Sunday.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest of Takudzwa Bamu, 21, and Takudzwa Maworera, 22, from New Tafara suburb for raping an 18-year-old girl.

They are expected to appear in court today.

“Police arrested two men for raping a teenager at a house in Mabvuku,” said Insp Chakanza.

“The accused persons and complainant were friends. 

“On March 25, at around 11am, the complainant was at Kamunhu Shopping Centre where she met the two accused persons. 

“They asked her to buy them a plate of sadza and she did so.”

Insp Chakanza added: “When they finished eating, Takudzwa Maorera asked the complainant to accompany them to his place of residence in New Tafara. 

“Complainant went with the accused persons to their residence. 

“They drank an energy drink and the complainant fell asleep.

“She later woke up when Takudzwa Bamu was raping her. 

“She was weak and lost consciousness and was raped by the second accused person.

“She woke up when the accused persons poured some water on her in a bid to awaken her.

“Complainant went home and narrated her ordeal to her uncle, who made a police report, leading to the arrest of the two.”
