TWO men from Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo were last night intercepted and arrested by police for rustling a herd of 19 cattle.

Edmore Bhibhi (46) and Farai Pambukani (28) were spotted by an informant driving a truck loaded with the cattle along Esigodini road.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident, saying they were initially spotted by the informant in the Insiza area.

“The informant tried to stop them but they sped towards Bulawayo. This is when he followed them all the while trying to phone the police and managed to get through to police at Bulawayo Central. This then led to the pair’s arrest,” said Insp Ncube.

He said the herd comprises 13 cows and six oxen. Insp Ncube said Bhibhi and Pambukani did not have any form of documentation to legally move the cattle.

“They are in custody and are assisting police with investigations. Although two of the two of the cattle have since died, we would like to appreciate the informant who is part of our public and stakeholders team in promoting law enforcement,” said Insp Ncube. @petematika
