The competition is set to run from August 10 to 18 in Moscow, Russia.
So far only two athletes — sprinter Gabriel Mvumvure and long-distance runner Cephas Pasipamire — have qualified for the global competition.
Mvumvure booked his place in the 100m event and was pushing to qualify for 200m but has dropped the event to concentrate on the former.
NAAZ president Tendai Tagara yesterday said they have to delay entering the team for the championships as they wait for Ngoni Makusha, who is set to compete in Belgium on Saturday.
“The last hope is Ngoni, he has a jump on July 27 in Belgium. We should have entered our team but we had to delay (in order) to accommodate Ngoni.”
