Two people died while others were injured after a Govasberg bus was involved in a head-on collision with a lorry near Kaguvi Vocational Training Centre along the Gweru-Kwekwe Highway this afternoon.

The deceased were reportedly travelling in the lorry.

The Govasberg bus, which was heading towards Kwekwe, was carrying church congregants from the Happiness National Apostolic Faith Mission Holy Ghost who were going to Gokwe Centre for a church service.

When The Herald news crew arrived at the scene, police had just retrieved two bodies, while ambulances were taking the injured to Kwekwe District Hospital.

Witnesses said when the accident occurred, the bus driver had allegedly encroached into the oncoming lane while avoiding a stationary haulage truck.

Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the police are still gathering details about the accident.

  1. The indiscipline, arrogance, impatience and complete lack of care for LIFE exhibited on the road is absolutely disgusting! Instead of waiting 30 seconds to make sure the road is clear people just pull out in the face of oncoming traffic. Do they think they will be miraculously protected!!!!!
