Two die in road accident

89km peg along Bindura-Mt Darwin road last week.

Mashonaland police spokesperson Inspector Memory Pamire said investigations were underway to establish the cause of the accident.
The deceased were identified as Bindura Urban councilor (MDC-T) Makesure Mafukidze and Mr Ephraim Mapanzure, a lecturer at Bindura University of Science Education, where he was also finalising his Master of Business Leadership degree.

Mafukidze was driving towards Bindura in a Mazda 323 vehicle with five passengers while Mapanzure, who was driving alone in a Nissan Pulsar vehicle was going the opposite direction.
The accident occurred last Friday at around 9 pm.

“We confirm that the accident occurred around 9 pm and two people died on the spot while five others who were seriously injured were rushed to Bindura Provincial Hospital.
“Investigations to establish the cause of the accident are still underway but we want to urge members of the public to be cautious when driving at night.

“The accident occurred at a clear stretch of the road.
“The road is very wide and it is a busy road and drivers should reduce speed and drive with caution,” Inspector Pamire said.
