Two die in Shamhu accident

TWO people died while two others were injured after a Jaguar they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a haulage truck near Shamhu Business Centre along the Harare-Mutare Highway yesterday.

The accident, which extensively damaged the Jaguar, occured at the 218km peg around 4pm.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the accident.

“The jaguar was heading towards Mutare and upon approaching the 218km peg, the driver lost control of the vehicle and encroached into the opposite lane. The vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a haulage truck.

“The jaguar had four passengers on board and two of them died on the spot, while one of the passengers was rushed to Rusape General Hospital where he is battling for life. The other passenger was treated and discharged,” he said.
