TWO people were killed in a road accident in Chipinge on Monday when the driver of a Honda Fit lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over multiple times.

Driver Norman Khumba (24) of Gaza, Chipinge, and passenger Blessed Muyambo (40) of Plot 1 Sterksroom, Chipinge, were pronounced dead on arrival at Chipinge District Hospital.

Two other passengers sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the same hospital, while one passenger escaped unharmed.

Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the accident, which occurred along the Skyline-Waterfalls road.

Khumba had four passengers on board when the accident happened.

“On June 2, 2025, Khumba was driving a Honda Fit eastbound along Skyline Waterfalls Road with four passengers. Upon reaching the 51km peg, near Christina Dawn Farm, he lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road to the left,” he said.

Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said in an attempt to regain control, Khumba over-steered, causing the vehicle to overturn and roll multiple times before landing on its left side.

ZRP Chipinge Traffic was notified and attended the scene.

Khumba and Muyambo sustained severe head injuries, while three other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries, and one passenger escaped unhurt.

“The injured passengers were taken to Chipinge District Hospital by a well-wisher. Khumba and Muyambo were pronounced dead on arrival. The vehicle sustained extensive body damage and awaits examination by the Vehicle Inspection Department,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
