Patrick Dhiziri (19) and Sydney Makoti (20), both of house number 1684 Dulibadzimu in the border town, denied two charges of robbery when they appeared before Beitbridge resident magistrate Miss Gloria Taku-ndwa.
They were remanded in custody to October 29 for trial. Makoti was arrested by detectives while sleeping in a tunnel along the New Limpopo Bridge and led the detectives to their house where Dhiziri was arrested while wearing one of the complainants’ clothes.
Charges are that on October 6 at around 2pm, Mutero and Mutande, both employed by Fawcett Security, went to Limpopo River in the company of a friend, Petros Ngive, as they intended to skip the border.
They were intercepted by Dhiziri and Makoti who demanded money, but Ngive fled, leaving Mutero and Mutande behind.
Dhiziri allegedly grabbed Mutero by the waist and produced a knife threatening to kill him if he resisted his orders.
Makoti produced a catapult threatening to shoot the two if they tried to escape.
Dhiziri allegedly stripped Mutero and searched Mutande and took a cellphone, shoes, a pair of trousers, a jacket and R300 after which they disappeared into the bush.
