Two MOB contestants get the boot

In episode five of the competition Nyenyayi in his drunken stupor nearly stripped naked for producers in order to make a point.

His partner in crime Magwenzi drove the sponsors’ bus, a clear violation of the rules and regulations of the show.

This behaviour did not go down well with their mentor, business mogul Nigel Chanakira, leading to their dismissal.

Last week Bulawayo was on the ropes as Sandisiwe Mahlangu was also put on the chopping board and it was only the riotous behaviour of the two that spared her from going home.

Chief mentor Chanakira had no option but to dismiss them from the show and said: “Champions should be true champions. Their behaviours should be beyond reproach and Knowledge’s abuse of alcohol is not in line with MOB philosophy. Garikai you drove our sponsors’ bus loaned to promote My Own Boss 2012 without authority. You were putting the sponsor’s asset at risk and you were jeopardising the lives of your fellow contestants. You are dismissed because you had no authority to drive that bus.”

In a statement MOB spokesperson, Farirai Macheka said contestants boycotted a task because they were protesting.

She said producers wanted to nip the problem in the bud leading to the eviction of the two.

“Indiscipline manifested itself in different ways in the entrepreneurial reality show. The 5th episode of My Own Boss Buy Zimbabwe Edition Season IV episode five was marred by hiccups as the contestants pulled a first on the producers by boycotting the task giving session and one contestant Sandisiwe Mahlangu from Bulawayo showed up,” said Macheka.

She said in the boardroom session after the TN Bank task Mahlangu was seen as the weakest link and was up for eviction, but did not get evicted due to Nyenyayi and Magwenzi’s behaviour.

“In the boardroom session Sandisiwe Mahlangu was identified as the weakest link and faced possible eviction as she had the least results for the TN

Bank Cash card task. As luck or divine intervention would have it she had Garikai and Knowledge to thank.

Thus Mahlangu was saved from eviction as the discipline issue was becoming a cause for concern and required immediate attention,” said Macheka.

She said although there were other contributory factors that led to their eviction it was the issue of indiscipline that led to their down fall as business people discipline was the key to success.

“Lack of discipline contributed immensely to the elimination of the Bulawayo and the Harare contestants. The eviction of the two contestants is a clear pointer that in any business enterprise self discipline is a key factor to success amongst other fundamentals.

“In a reality show no matter the nature of the show there are seats always reserved for drama, scandal, and success. Add pressure, alcohol, and put people who are total strangers in the same house to the mix, you get great unpredictable events waiting to unfold,” said Macheka.
