TWO more suspected armed robbers were recently captured on camera brandishing tools, including a hammer, which they use to commit crime.
The suspects were captured by CCTV roaming outside a house in Marlborough.
The owner of the house then distributed the image among the neighbourhood’s residents who then decided to take the footage to the police.
On the same night, a church in the neighbourhood was raided by armed obbers. It brings the number of suspects, whose images have been captured on CCTV in the area, to THREE.
For weeks now, armed robbers have terrorised the residents of Mabelreign, Malborough and Westgate.Earlier this week, police released a photograph of one of the suspected armed robbers, which was captured on CCTV at the crime scene, in Mabelreign. These three images could provide police with the breakthrough they needed to arrest the suspects.
Bizarrely, the first photograph has earned the suspected armed robber a group of admirers online, with many of them wooed by what they are calling “good looks.”Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the CCTV footage was one of the prime suspects.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police, Harare Province, is investigating a series of robbery cases reported in Mabelreign and the Greater Harare Suburban District since February 2026.
“Operations are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects,” said Insp Chakanza. He added that the suspects, believed to be a gang of four, have been targeting churches, schools, and private residences, using violence to break into premises, subdue victims, and steal cash and valuables.
“In some cases under investigation, sexual offences are also believed to have occurred,” he said. On Tuesday, five armed robbers struck a home along Harare Drive in Borrowdale, escaping with US$16,000.
The property was occupied by six Chinese nationals – Wang Xiaocao (31), Zhang Yubin (40), Yang Yubin (36), Liu Cunli (58), Zhang Honggliang (51), and Zhang Huainan (49).
Police investigations indicate that the robbers, armed with a pistol and claw bars, cut through the perimeter security fence and entered the yard.
They then approached the cluster house, where the Chinese nationals were partying. The robbers opened a window from outside and entered the home through it.
Once inside, they searched the residents’ bags, seized their cellphones, and stole money from each person, totaling US$16,000.
National Police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, could not be reached for comment.
H-Metro understands that the case was reported at Borrowdale Police Station under RRB 6828503.
