Two schools for SADC debate competition

MOTHER Patrick Convent Primary and Amai Mugabe Junior schools will represent Zimbabwe in the SADC debate competitions in Mozambique on Monday.

This is an initiative of a non-profit organisation called Primary Schools Debate Challenge (PriDC).

Its aim is to educate children in Africa about child abuse and early child marriages.

PriDC organises debate and public speaking competitions for primary schools nationwide to try and achieve its objectives.

Winners from provincial competitions proceed to national competitions and two best teams from national competitions compete on the international stage.

Last year, the initiative took high schools to compete in Kenya against East African schools.

Speaking to H-Metro, PriDC organiser, National Marwa, said the schools are ready to represent the country in Beira.

“The two primary schools will be debating with other schools from Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia,” said Marwa.
