Two years behind bars for axing neighbour

A Beatrice man will spend the next two years behind bars for axing his neighbour on the leg after accusing him of having an affair with his wife.
Emmanuel Bhaureni (30) of Gilstone Farm, Beatrice accused his neighbour Paul Mutambi (31) of bedding his wife.This resulted in Mutambi and his wife Sibongile Sibanda having prolonged arguments over the accusations.

As a result, Mutambi asked his wife’s sister to come and mediate. Sibanda’s sister came on July 31, and confronted Bhaureni demanding an explanation for his accusations.

Bhaureni reportedly became angry and disappeared from his house only to come back drunk. He started throwing stones at Mutambi’s house and insulting him.

Bhaureni threatened to kill Mutambi, who fled to his other neighbour’s house.
However, the determined Bhaureni armed himself with an axe, followed him and axed him on the leg.
