THE United Arab Emirates (UAE) presents lucrative export opportunities for Zimbabwean products, especially those related to agriculture.
The country’s Ambassador to UAE, Lovemore Mazemo encouraged local producers to take advantage of the cordial relations between the two countries.
He said the embassy was ready to assist local business keen to export to that country with market intelligence as well as links with potential partners and investors.
“We would like to invite our brothers and sisters who are doing business and commerce in Zimbabwe particularly those who have projects that are ready for funding to get in touch with us,” said Amb Mazemo in a recent video recording shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
“We would like to connect them with potential investors. Let’s work together so that we can have great results,” he said.
The country is on an aggressive drive to increase exports under the Government’s economic diplomacy focus, which is anchored on international engagement and re-engagement thrust.
The UAE market is critical to Zimbabwe given its strategic position linking western Asia and the Arabian Peninsula.
Developing an export-led economy is at the heart of the country’s National Development Strategy
(NDS1:2021-2025), which is a key building block towards achieving an upper middle-income economy by 2030.
“Whether you are thinking of a joint venture or any form of partnership or you want to export to the UAE market and your production and supply size is low, we can work together and identify potential investor who can help so that we enjoy this huge food market,” said Amb Mazemo.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwean businesses are participating at the on-going six-month Expo 2020 Dubai, which is being hosted by the UAE in the luxurious city of Dubai.
The expo began on October 1 this year and will end in March next year.
Latest updates from the team manning the country’s pavilion indicate that Zimbabwe’s participation at the global showcase continues to attract more business inquiries for trade and investment in various sectors of the economy.
Zimbabwe is showcasing its products and services at the high-level global trade expo alongside a total of 190 countries.
