THE Seventh-Day Adventist Church in collaboration with the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) have brought a team of five plastic surgeons from the United States of America to offer free selected medical services in the city.
Services offered include facial reconstruction, rectifying selected limb deformities, cleft lip, as well as lumps and bumps.
The five-day programme commenced yesterday and will conclude on Friday with the teams setting scheduled consultations and surgeries starting today and the rest of the week.
Elder Thabani Moyo from Bulawayo East Seventh-Day Adventist Church said the team was off to a good start and they hoped the programme will bring much needed relief to patients.
“The programme is completely free, making it accessible to those in need. The doctors are already busy at work, performing operations at UBH and tomorrow’s schedule includes consultations and more surgeries,” he said.

“I must say that the response has been overwhelming, with people travelling from far and wide. We hope the medical team will bring much needed relief to patients,” said Elder Moyo
He said the programme has attracted the attention of patients from neighbouring Botswana and South Africa, as well as from local areas like Harare and Karoi.
Elder Moyo said the programme is an example of what can be achieved through collaboration, compassion and community spirit. He invited all those in need of the services being offered by the medical team to make their way to UBH.
