ZIMBABWEAN-BORN United Kingdom-based gospel artiste and philanthropist Nkosi ‘‘Ka’’ Ndlovu says he is proud to be singing in Ndebele language oversees.
Following his successful tour of the country dubbed “The Tour of My Motherland” last November, Ndlovu who hails from Nkayi district revealed that he is back in the studio again.
Ndlovu is working on his fourth album which according to him would be out in June. A 10 track album entitled Our Hymns will show all music lovers the other side of the Nkayi bred musician.
Speaking to Sunday Life from his base in the United Kingdom, Ndlovu said he was responding to his fans’ needs.
“The album is a direct response to the followers of my music who are constantly asking me to do a recording of hymns. I could not pre-empty which hymns are in this album but one thing which is certain people will love this album because I have spiced up these all-time gospel favourites and brought them to life again in my own unique way,” said Ndlovu.
Ndlovu’s 2015 tour of Zimbabwe saw him and his band The Experience stage shows in his home area of Gwelutshena in Nkayi, followed by Bulawayo with Mkhululi Bhebhe of Joyous Celebration, Plumtree, and Harare with Mathias Mhere and in Gweru with Takesure Zamar Ncube.
“Despite singing mostly in Ndebele this is not a handicap on my career here in the UK as most people enjoy the uniqueness of my language and the Ndebele style of doing music,” he said.
Ndlovu could not hide the motive of singing in his native language as he drew inspiration from seasoned Zimbabwean musicians.
“I salute Oliver Mutukudzi and Ladysmith of Black Mambazo who have successfully impacted and impressed the world while singing in their own language,” said Ndlovu adding that he is into development projects.
Apart from doing music Ndlovu is also a patron of a project which he started at his former school Zidulini in Nkayi in 2009.
“I’m pleased that one classroom block is at its final touches of completion thanks to all the friends of Zidulini who continue to donate towards the school,” he said.
He also said that he had donated text books and uniforms to his former school.
