A HOT-TEMPERED artisanal miner from Colleen Bawn will spend the next 10 months behind bars after he turned into a savage and bit off part of his girlfriend’s nose in a rage over a phone call.
The 48-year-old brute snapped after his 45-year-old girlfriend, a vendor, received a call from another man while they were chilling around 7PM in the Vhovha mining area on 2 July 2025.
After the call, she deleted the call log. That was enough to send the man into full-blown beast mode.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) without naming names, said the miner struck his lover with a stick on the mouth and back of the head, then sank his teeth into her nose, tearing off a chunk in a horrifying attack that left her bloodied and traumatised.
The Gwanda Magistrates’ Court slapped him with an 18-month sentence, with 8 months suspended. He will serve an effective 10 months in jail.
