Umguza farmers have been urged to make maximum utilisation of their arable land to contribute towards national food security.

Speaking during her keynote address at the district annual Agricultural Show at Aerodrome Hall in Ward Seven, Matabeleland North provincial agronomist Ms Zenzele Ndlovu said full utilisation of the land will also be realised by making sure youths also take an interest in farming.

“In order for us to talk of sustainable agriculture, you must make sure that you fully utilise your land, make sure your children are also involved so that the future is guaranteed because you are aging, they shall come a time that your legs can not carry you anymore,” said Ms Ndlovu.

Ms Ndlovu also encouraged farmers to make use of technology in their farming to enhance their yields.
