A 21-year-old woman allegedly struck her boyfriend with a brick, killing him instantly, following a domestic dispute at a plot in Hellensvale, Umguza, over the weekend.
Getrude Mpofu of Sauerstown was arrested on Monday in connection with the death of Norman Ndlovu (29).
The incident, which has left the community disturbed, occurred at Plot 1, Hellensvale, on October 12.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said a misunderstanding ensued between the two, culminating in Mpofu allegedly striking Ndlovu once on the head with a brick.
“The victim died on the spot,” said a police source close to the investigations.
“The body was subsequently referred to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for a post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.”
Mpofu is currently in custody at Sauerstown Police Station as investigations continue.
In a separate case, the body of an unidentified man was found dumped in Mbare in pumpkin field.
The body was discovered in the Matapi area, near Mukuvisi River, on Monday, October 13 2025.
In a statement, police said the body was found lying in the field and covered with a cloth.
“The left leg was severely mutilated, with flesh missing from the thigh to the foot,” police said.
“The body had several wounds on the right leg and chest.”
Part of the man’s hair had been removed, leaving the scalp exposed.
The body was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals mortuary for a post-mortem.
Police in Mbare have appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the man and have urged anyone with information that may lead to his identification or the arrest of those responsible for his death.
