FOLLOWING Highlanders’ defeat at FC Platinum last Saturday, attention shifts to Division One teams Black Mambas, TelOne and Tongogara who are yet to taste defeat in the ZIFA Northern and Central regions.

In the Northern Region, Black Mambas are still to taste defeat after 18 matches while TelOne are also yet to lose after 12 games.

TelOne, who are seeking a return to the top flight after they challenged Sheasham’s promotion last year.

The Gweru based WIFI Boys have 30 points and are ahead of FC Platinum U-19 by four points.

Also yet to taste defeat in the central Region is army side Tongogara who are lying third and have won six and drawn six games.

In the last match TelOne and Tongogara settled for a nil-all draw before the mid-season break.

Black Mambas face title contenders Harare City on Wednesday in what is probably game of the season for the Northern Region.

Mambas coach John “Toto” Ncube, who is still playing down his championship credentials, said he is taking each game as it comes and the season is a marathon.

“We are happy that the season is set for resumption and we are ready as we have been working hard during the short break. The boys are in good psychologically and they are looking forward to the upcoming games.

“There is a lot to play for and the season is still a long way to go. There are no small games in our region and we respect every game that we are going to play,” said Ncube.

Harare City coach Joseph “Shabba” Takaringofa believes they will be happy if they can manage to fulfil the fixture considering the situation they are in.

The team failed to train yesterday as players are incapacitated and they have been having hard times.

“I am looking forward to the game but I am not sure if we are going to make it as we are in a tricky situation. The team has not been training,’ said Takaringofa.
