Comedian Richard Matimba has paid tribute to the heroes and heroines who fearlessly fought to liberate Zimbabwe with another joke that has become an instant hit on WhatsApp social platform. More popularly known as Uncle Ritchie, the comedian who is famous for the “Zviri kumbofamba sei?” joke is at it again this time praising those who sacrificed their lives and limbs in liberating Zimbabwe.
He starts by explaining how some people have forgotten the struggle through indulging in various activities that almost always end up with death over the heroes’ holidays.
“Wotoona magamba, magamba onzi otomhanya speedy otoenda kunyika kuoverseas kunyika yeChimoio, kuTanzania kutodzidza hondo. Kutodzidza kubinha wotodzidza ndokutokunda hondo, wotodzidza kutobaya muromo nepfuti kuti wotozobinha nemaoko futi nemakumbo. . .
“Wotoona vamwe vakutonwa zvinodhaka paheroes kutokanganwa kuti unotobva watozoshaya wotoona vamwe vakutohedhana musoro vamwe vakutohedhana nezvibhakera vamwe vakutohedhana nezvakasiyana siyana . . . vamwe votogumira nemota, kuto flyer nemota kutotamba zvavo boogie muroad kutokanganwa kuti vakatoita hunhu hwekufarisa wotozosvika pakutandadza wobva wafa, totenda mwari ivo vakapa njere kumagamba nevapenyu vachiripo, kutowanawo rusununguko.”
Uncle Ritchie said he intends to remind people of the importance of remembering our heroes and also advise the public to be careful on roads.
“This is my latest offering for the heroes’ holidays and I hope people will take it easy on the roads and remember that Zimbabwe won its independence through shedding blood,” the 30-year-old comedian said.
However, his critics say that Uncle Ritchie appears to have reached the zenith of his creativity describing the latest joke as simply nonsense.
Uncle Ritchie who is set to tour the United Kingdom and Canada this year, has turned comedy into serious business and is now up for huge endorsements as companies jostle to sign the comedian for their radio and television commercial.
His rise to fame was when he did the “Zviri kumbofamba sei?” and “Mudeacon Bhebhe” jokes while to others it was the “Zim-Asset” joke.
So popular are his jokes on several social media that most people have his recordings on their mobile phones.
In “Zviri kumbofamba sei” his style consists of pure humorous nonsense like people getting their heads clean shaven at the butchery and really serious issues of the need for serious grassroots based representation in Parliament.
Uncle Ritchie plays the part of a person who is seeing it all through a kaleidoscope that is constantly shaken so he never gets what is going on.
In “Zim-Asset” he starts off by explaining that the majority of the populace does not understand the economic turnaround blue print that the country’s economy hinges on.
So he starts explaining it in a series of bunkum and misrepresentations.
