Vincent for another award

TOP Zimbabwean amateur golfer Scott Vincent continues to hog the limelight in the United States after being named on the initial list for the prestigious Ben Hogan Award. The award is given annually to the top collegiate golfer in the US. It is named after legendary American professional golfer, Ben Hogan, who is one of the greatest players of all-time.

It is the most prestigious award in men’s college golf in the US.
Vincent (21) was included on the list of 30 collegiate golfers in the running for the award after some impressive performances for the Virginia Tech University golf team.

Vincent, who is currently the highest ranked African amateur golfer on the official World Amateur Golf Rankings on seventh place, caught the eye of the selection panel after winning three of the five events in which he competed.

The former St John’s College schoolboy won two tournaments in consecutive weeks, the Golfweek Conference Challenge, the VCU Shoot-out and the Tennessee Intercollegiate at Blackthorn Golf Club.

The impressive wins saw Vincent being named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for the month of September last year.
Vincent, who is nick-named “Mhondoro” back home, finished fourth in the only event he did not win.
