Popular comedian Uncle Zex Mdawini, real name Hidden Tshuma, has added another feather to his career as he has ventured into mainstream acting.
The Bulawayo Pumula bred comedian is among local actors who are part of the cast of a Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC TV) new series titled Imfihlo.
On securing the gig, Uncle Zex Mdawini said it was a great achievement for him to venture into acting. He feels honoured and motivated to push even harder to achieve more in the showbiz industry.
“It is every artiste’s desire to appear on national broadcast channels, be it on radio or television. It shows national trust and proves that one is worthy of national recognition. All that I can say is I gave it my best to be noticed to play the role of an uncle on the production and everyone must wait until it is released because I do not want to pre-empt the excitement. The series is a must watch,” said Uncle Zex.
The award-winning comedian said it was not a walk in the park for him to master acting skills, but with help from seasoned actors and producers, he managed to grasp and adapt to what was expected of him in front of the camera.
“In acting, one follows a set story line and must not divert from it and this is something different from what I do which is free-styling on my comedy sets. Acting takes more concentration than comedy and I had a hard time trying to focus and master the craft. But I got help from other members of the crew,” said Uncle Zex.
