UNDERPRIVILEGED communities in Kariba have received donations from Tinovimba Trust to uplift the lives of marginalised children in the area.

Disadvantaged children in the Nyaminyami district, yesterday received pencils, exercise books, pens and clothes to help them in their educational journey.

The donations took place at Malembeja and Negande Primary School where Tinovimba Trust Chief Executive Mrs Chenai Siachakanzwa urged the beneficiaries to use the donation wisely and take their education seriously.

Mrs Siachakanzwa said the organisation would soon venture into sponsoring sporting activities to give underpriviledged children the opportunity to access scholarships.

“I grew up in this area, so my wish is to help the less privileged acquire education without hindrance,” she said.

“As an organisation, we have come with little donations. We hope we will include sporting activities next time so that our children acquire scholarships to travel abroad. I would like to advise the children that with this donation, they should take their studies seriously.”

Chief Negande’s wife Mrs Siakaluma Mudhimba commended the donations and said they will go a long way in helping underprivileged children in her community.

“This is a noble gesture to all of us in the community. I think if their organisation grows big, they should address other issues like paying tuition fees and providing food, because people are suffering here,” she said.

Underprivileged communities remain on the losing end especially as the country battles a debilitating economic meltdown and most of these forgotten communities bear the brunt of the suffering leading to early child marriages, school dropouts, and drug abuse among children.

The situation is dire in remote rural areas, where families struggle to pay tuition fees and provide stationery for their children’s educational needs.

Tinovimba Trust is a charity organisation that helps orphaned and vulnerable children, single and widowed women, by equipping them with basic needs to uplift their lives.
