Uniform thief arrested

Stores in Harare, has been arrested. The suspect was caught conducting rituals at his Chitungwiza house in a bid to evade arrest.
Rodgers Gumbo (49) was found by officers from the Commercial Crime Unit (CCU) covered in a blanket while seated and conducting the rituals. Police also arrested his accomplices Isaiah Muzota (39) who was employed by Enbee and Emmanuel Ushe (26). Police recovered uniforms worth over US$25 000, which were being sold in Mbare by the suspects. Harare provincial police spokes-person Inspector James Sabau on Tuesday said they were hunting the fourth suspect, Gift Chipaike. Chipaike also worked for Enbee Stores along Leopold Takawira Street.
“Police received information that there was a syndicate which was stealing uniforms from Enbee Stores and diverting them for resale at Mbare Musika, resulting with investigations being carried out,” Insp Sabau said.
He said the suspects would divert the uniforms being delivered from one Enbee Stores branch to another. The uniforms would then be given to Ushe, Gumbo and other vendors in Mbare to sell at US$9 each.
At Enbee Stores the same uniforms cost US$19 each. A source close to the investigations on Tuesday said; “When we arrived at Gumbo’s home, we found him covered in a blanket, seated and conducting rituals.” Gumbo was suspected to have been burning some herbs.
“Investigations are still in progress and we believe that there could be more people, especially Enbee Stores employees and management involved in this syndicate,” said Insp Sabau. – CR.
