adminMANCHESTER. — Manchester United fans have hit back at manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese boss criticised home supporters for being too quiet during to 2-0 win against Huddersfield on Saturday.
Romeu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez scored the decisive goals which closed the gap to league leaders Manchester City to 13 points.
After the game against the Terriers, Mourinho said: “In here, the atmosphere is a bit a quiet.”
But Man Utd supporters claims that the reduction in atmosphere is the same across the country and is in no way the fault of the Old Trafford faithful.
“We note our manager’s further comments regarding the poor atmosphere within Old Trafford following the Huddersfield home game,” the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) wrote in a statement.
“The decline in atmosphere is by no means limited to Old Trafford, it’s an issue affecting clubs throughout the country. And it’s certainly not an issue specific to Manchester United supporters – our away support is widely acknowledged, by fair minded fans, as the best in the country.
“We believe that atmosphere is primarily dependent on the perceived relationship between fans and club – including the degree of supporter ownership and engagement.” — The Daily Express.
