The Chitungwiza Marondera (CHITMA) District of The United Methodist Church MUMC (Vabvuwi) will be hosting a free medical outreach programme at Murape Secondary School in Seke from today until tomorrow.

Seke residents and church members will receive free medical check ups and treatment for various ailments.

Also, legal and career guidance services will also be offered to the community, including school children free of charge.

Several established medical doctors, lawyers and career guidance experts have been engaged for the programme.

UMC Chitungwiza Marondera District Superintendent (DS) Reverend Godknows Risinamhodzi said all were welcome to the programme.

“The programme is run by the man organisation of the UMC popularly known as Vabvuwi veUnited Methodist Church. It is a medical outreach, career guidance and legal advice programme. Initially we would engage doctors and nurses but this time we incorporated lawyers  as well as pilots who would be giving career guidance to school children.

Doctors, nurses and pharmacists would be there to offer free health advice and medication to the community. We will also have dentist son site.

“The objective of the programme is centred on the church’s mission of claiming higher ground through nurturing, witnessing and outreach and this mission for us as a church is guided by four main pathways which are congregational development, leadership development, poverty eradication and global health.

“We are taking from Jesus Christ’s model, whereby he would reach and bring healing to the wounded so in this case, we are preaching and witnessing Jesus by reaching unto the people through medication for there to be healing.

“We also understand that there are underprivileged people who cannot have access to medication, so we are reaching out to them”

He said on poverty eradication, the organisation would be looking at the aspect whereby career guidance is given to learners by catching them young so that when they grow and choose a career, they do so in accordance with their qualifications and their talents.

“We foresee students brushing shoulders with doctors, pilots, pharmacists and dentists for guidance’s sake and that would be bringing a bright future to them, leading to the eradication of poverty.

“When we do so we are augmenting the Government’s vision of a healthy nation.

“This is our fifth programme and our wish is to host these programmes annually. We have been hosting these programme but we came to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic so for the past two years we have not been able to host these events, but we have now resumed. Resources permitting and if we get more partners, we would want to do these programmes annually,” he said.

He said all are welcome to the programme
