University of Pretoria coach salutes Arubi

PRETORIA. — University of Pretoria coach Sammy Troughton has praised goalkeeper Washington Arubi for giving them the platform “to punish” Polokwane City. AmaTuks equalled their best-ever result in thumping City 5-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, with all the goals being scored in the second half. Arubi was at fault for the home side’s only goal, but came back strongly to help his team to a resounding victory.

“In this game there are fine lines, and at 1-1 he made an unbelievable save,” Troughton said after the game.

“He’s been brilliant for us — not only this season, but since he joined the club — and he kept us in it and gave us that platform to go and punish (Polokwane).”

Troughton has now warned his players against getting carried away, especially with a tough last game of 2014 against Bidvest Wits on the horizon.

“The conditions were difficult for both teams, but I thought we adapted better,” he said.

“We had one or two pieces of luck, but we said to the guys we’ve got to do it ourselves, be a bit more positive if we can, and our counter-attacks were awesome. — KickOff
