A daring Chinhoyi-based freelance journalist and armed robbery convict who is suspected of breaking into the Harare Magistrates’ Court and stealing a computer and a printer last month, was yesterday brought to the scene for indications.
Romeo Kurai Pemba (25), who is on an outstanding warrant of arrest on another unlawful entry charge, is expected in court on Monday.
It is alleged that Pemba worked at ZBC and New Ziana before joining Studio 263 as a script writer.
During indications at the Harare Magistrates Court, Pemba said he entered the court building through Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services gates which were left unlocked.
“I used the prisons entrance, the gates were open,” he said. “I scaled water pipes from ground floor until I reached the fifth floor. I then removed window panels from the reception area and took a printer, monitor and a CPU.”
The property was valued at $1 500. Pemba allegedly committed the offence while on bail pending a matter in which he is accused of stealing a cellphone and gadgets worth $3 800 from proprietor of Jockster Investments Pvt Ltd, Engineer Antony Parehwa.
