The United Nations World Food Programme executive director, Ms Ertharin Cousin is in Zimbabwe to meet senior Government officials to discuss WFP operations and issues of food and nutrition security.
WFP spokesman, Mr Tomson Phiri said during her stay, Ms Cousin would also visit the WFP programme providing food assistance to people living with HIV and receiving treatment at Beatrice Road Infectious Diseases Hospital in Harare.
“She is also expected to meet senior Government officials and local representatives of donor governments on food and security issues’’.
The WFP provides seasonal relief to 1,2 million people in food insecure areas of rural Zimbabwe. The agency also provides nutritional support to malnourished pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under five years.
