The Extraordinary Summit of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, which was scheduled for tomorrow in Maputo, Mozambique, has been postponed to a later date following the unavailability of the Organ chair, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who is in quarantine.
The incoming chairperson, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, is also not available as he is testifying at the ongoing Zondo Commission of Inquiry in that country.
In a statement released Wednesday, Botswana’s press secretary to the President Batlhalefi David Leagajang said all the participating leaders had agreed to postpone the indaba.
“The leaders agreed on a postponement as a result of the unavailability of the chairperson, His Excellency, President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, currently in quarantine and the incoming chairperson, His Excellency President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa, who is appearing at the Zondo Commission of Inquiry.
“His Honour, the Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane, was supposed to lead the Botswana delegation to Maputo this afternoon.”
