MEDIA practitioners have been urged to uphold ethics and professionalism in the execution of their duties so as to meaningfully contribute to national development.

Speaking during a stakeholders meeting at a local hotel in Mutare this evening, Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) registration and accreditation manager Mr Takudzwa Tellmore Kasingakore said ethical and professional media foster access to information for citizens to drive national interests.

“It is important for the journalists to be ethical and professional in their conduct because they play a huge role in mobilising communities to promote widespread understanding and appreciation of Natioanal Development Strategy (NDS2) goals and their impact on national development.

“This ensures that”no one and no place is left behind” towards Vision 2030,” said Mr Kasingakore.

He reminded journalists accredited with ZMC that press cards should not be abused outside execution of their professional duties.

Mr Kasingakore urged media practioners to wear their media jackets in the line of duty for professional recognition and safety.
