Zanu-PF members should stop following First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa around to seek favours as she fulfils her mission of touching the lives of the disadvantaged countrywide, a senior party member has said.
The reprimand was made amid revelations that some party members now had a tendency of absconding their core duties to follow the First Lady as she fulfilled her mission. Speaking in Chinhoyi on Sunday, Mashonaland West provincial chairperson Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi said the First Lady wanted energetic people who derived pleasure in working for both the party and Government, not following her around.
Cde Ziyambi took a swipe at expelled Zanu-PF member and former First Lady Grace Mugabe, saying she enjoyed busing people to her functions, compromising the running of party and Government business.
“If you have an assigned duty, you should do so instead of just rushing to the First Lady’s personal functions seeking favours as had been the norm under Mrs Mugabe,” he said.
“I know the First Lady personally, she is not an attention seeker like Mrs Mugabe who would bus people from Kariba to Domboshava. I met the First Lady while she was donating at Chikurubi Female Prison and she instructed me to go back and enjoy my holiday at home. I only managed to meet her after convincing her that I was in Harare. She had also earlier on instructed me that people from my ministry were not welcome as the trip was meant for her personal visit.”Cde Ziyambi preached unity among party members.
