MKOBA Teachers’ College (MTC) and Masvingo Polytechnic College (MPC) have joined hands to build a US$2 million secondary boarding facility, Gangarabwe High School (GHS), in Chiwundura, Vungu District.
The project is a demonstration of the success of the Integrated Skills Expanded Outreach Programme (ISEOP) being implemented by the Government to equip citizens with practical and applicable skills that enable them to produce highly competitive goods and services.
MTC is leading the project, leveraging its expertise in education and community development while MPC provides vital technical expertise to local workers, ensuring the project’s success.
This partnership showcases the power of collaboration in driving development and improving education infrastructure in Zimbabwe.
The new boarding facility is expected to improve access to education and enhance overall learning experience for learners in the area.
It buttresses the Government’s vision to upgrade infrastructure and promote sustainable development in marginalised communities.
MTC vice principal, Mr Martin Mukwazhe, said the project has positioned the community for rural industrialisation in line with Vision 2030.
“Government’s Integrated Expansion Outreach Programme is yielding impressive results after we collaborated with Masvingo Polytechnic College to construct a US$2 million boarding high school in Chiwundura constituency called Gangarabwe High School,” he said.
Mr Mukwazhe said youths from the community have since been trained to become skilled people through the programme.
“The benefit of this whole project is that we leave the community with skilled people while the area has also been developed through various economic activities that come with the facility. The community will also benefit through getting quality education,” he said.

Mr Mukwazhe said the school, which is anticipated to be complete by mid-next year, will enrol 700 learners.
Chiwundura Constituency legislator, Cde Sleiman Kwidini, commended the Second Republic for coming up with projects aimed at uplifting rural communities in line with the rural industrialisation model.
“Our children are going to learn more about what is happening in Education 5.0 as the school is coming with the necessary facilities for such quality education,” he said.
“Our President is moving, and walking the talk such that by 2030, no one and no place will be left behind.”
Mr Blessing Hlongwane, a community member, said they were grateful for the development, which will see their children accessing education without walking long distances.
